A Message from Alistair Brisbourne, ACCA Head of Technology Research suddenly appeared in my linkedin message inbox on 13 Aug with the intention to invite me to be panelist – ACCA Accounting expertise meets machine intelligence.
My first impression was is this for real or a phishing message. I replied with “Cool, Let me know more details on that”. With some to-fro linkedin messaging, we decided to fix a video call two days later to talk about the details and for me, to verify if this is a real invitation from ACCA UK end.
Well, it turned out to be real deal as Alistair had shared that draft report of Accounting expertise meets machine intelligence. It is meant to share with all ACCA members over the world on what AI/ML is all about and how it was incorporated into the essential finance activities.
This all happened before a week where I represented both AI Singapore and ACCA Singapore to speak in the Tech3 Forum 2024. Quite surreal right?

Moving forward, we had a scheduled call a few weeks before the actual panel discussion recording. This was meant in a way for us to get to know other panelist and the moderator so that the flow would be more natural on the day of recording.
Initially, I planned to take the video panel discussion at home but for some reasons, I was nominated to represent my company to attend a meeting in ITE HQ to give our input on what the job scope of a new AI role should be.
If you have followed it till now, you will know where I taken this recorded video panel discussion.
Yes, right in ITE HQ where I arranged to sit in another boardroom to take this discussion. However, I felt funny hence, I shifted myself out to the common sofa area for it.
ITE HQ level 7 sofa area somehow marked my first international panel discussion.
